PERLO: OUR HEIRLOOMS, NOW IN PEARLS
Perlo means pearl in Esperanto. It's also the name of our newest chapter: ten pieces mixing freshwater pearls and lab-grown diamonds. Your grandmother's treasure, with a very different attitude.

GRANDMA'S TREASURE
Pearls are back in the spotlight. They are the ultimate heirloom, the jewel our grandmothers passed on. And at daŭre, heirlooms are kind of our thing.
So pearls felt like a natural next step. On one condition: nothing too classic, nothing boring.
"With daŭre, we explore contrasts. That's the whole idea of our jewelry: the right tension between shapes and proportions. With pearls, we wanted to make wearing them feel even cooler. I had received two necklaces from my two grandmothers, but I was burgled twice and they disappeared. With Perlo, I wanted to rediscover the joy of wearing pearls, in a more modern way," says Alix Battard, co-founder of daŭre.

THE KEY PIECES
Ten pieces make up the collection. The Ondumi sautoir is its centerpiece. Ondumi means "to ripple, like waves", and it's made to play with: 90 cm to wear as a double strand, or 1.10 m for a triple.

The Ondo earrings string their pearls from small to large, like the movement of a wave. Eight centimetres of lightness.

Elsewhere, pearls meet diamonds. An emerald-cut stone sits on the Nakra choker. Another one crowns the pearl drop of the Fonto earring.

"We used to think of pearls as well-behaved, saved for special occasions. We love wearing them with a t-shirt and jeans."
"They bring light, softness and freshness to any look. In our designs, pearls meet diamonds, but never in a too-much way," adds Julie de Cartier, daŭre's other co-founder.

A MORE CONSCIOUS PEARL
We chose freshwater pearls, in the same spirit as our lab-grown diamonds. They are cultivated in freshwater mussels, in old rice fields turned into lakes, in Zhuji, China. Our partner there is a family who has done this for generations.
Unlike sea pearls, each mussel yields several pearls. It is never sacrificed at harvest, and its environment is never depleted. Naturally irregular, each pearl carries a singular charm. No two are alike.
